“20th Anniversary Celebration Offers Fun, Art and Mystique for the Whole Family”

The story of Buddha for You is really quite remarkable! The fact that it still exists is a beautiful story. Please join us for a very special day celebrating this incredible journey.

The Dharma Bum Temple (DBT) is pleased to announce its First Annual Public Open House and Fair for December 15, 2018 to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of ‘Buddha for You Gifts & Books’ store. DBT is one of the largest Buddhist centers in San Diego County, well known for its unique approach to sharing Buddhism and its diverse and greatly non-Buddhist labeling community. DBT is always open to the public. This event is simply an extension of that.

The Open House is designed to be a fun and interesting day with a variety of activities where people can dip in and out as they please – meander around and just check the place out – the meditation halls, the shrine, the library, the grounds, the store, the store’s vast collection of antique Buddha statues and many other treasures. The day will start at 11am with our regular Saturday “Introduction to Buddhism and Meditation” class (all classes and programs at DBT are always free and offer Q&A sessions at the end). At 12pm we will tell a history of Buddha For You followed by a brief Pilgrimage Walk and blessing at 12:30pm to celebrate Buddha for You Gift & Books’ 20th Anniversary. Ongoing throughout the day, there will be an interactive art station for kids and adults, food catered by Lotus Thai, art demonstrations and more. At 1pm in the Temple’s main hall, an automated slide show will run depicting activities, history and many special moments that have occurred at Buddha for You. The evening will culminate at 5pm with a special edition of one of our Movie Night presentations, movie to TBD but open to suggestions!
