A Morning of Recovery and Buddhism with Kevin Griffin

The Dharma Bum Temple is honored to welcome renowned Buddhist recovery teacher and author Kevin Griffin for a special edition of our Sunday Buddhism and 12 Steps meeting on Sunday, April 5th from 10:00am – 11:30am.

Joining us live via Zoom from the Bay Area, Kevin will share his unique integration of Buddhist practice and recovery principles, offering insight, wisdom, and practical tools for those walking the path of healing and awakening. As the author of influential works like One Breath at a Time, Kevin has been a guiding voice for many in the recovery community seeking a deeper spiritual foundation.

Kevin Griffin is best known as the author of One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the Twelve Steps (Rodale Press 2004) A longtime Buddhist practitioner and 12 Step participant, he is a leader in the mindful recovery movement and one of the founders of the Buddhist Recovery Network. Kevin has trained with the leading Western Vipassana teachers, among them Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, and Ajahn Amaro. His teacher training was as a Community Dharma Leader at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Marin County, CA. You can find more on his website: kevingriffin.net

Please join us at the Dharma Bum Temple every Sunday at 10am. Take a journey of growth, healing and self-discovery: Through the 12 Steps as interpreted in Buddhism. 

The Buddhist Recovery Group is open to all people who suffer from any addiction or compulsive behavior and are looking for a comprehensive, transformative path to end their suffering. People who are dealing with alcoholism, drug addiction, sex addiction, eating disorders, gambling, and other compulsive or harmful behaviors are all members of this group. 

This group will serve the needs of two distinct groups: (1) those people wishing to participate in a year-long step study, and (2) those people wishing to join in periodically throughout the year. 

Monthly Schedule: 1st Sunday: Introduce a new step (Step 1 = January, Step 2 = February) 2nd & 3rd Sunday’s: Topics will be varied on subjects of Buddhism & Recovery. 4th Sunday: Review of step & step work. 

We will teach the traditional 12 Steps as outlined in “Alcoholics Anonymous” and with each step we will draw on Buddhism to highlight the similarities in each tradition to enhance the spiritual experience of the participant.
