The Dharma Bum Temple is pleased to introduce a new monthly Recovery Dharma Inquiry Sangha, beginning in August and meeting on the first Monday of every month from 6:00pm to 6:55pm in the downstairs Buddha for You Meditation Hall.
Over the past three and a half years, the Dharma Bum Temple has facilitated Recovery Dharma meetings at the temple, witnessing countless moments of healing, courage, and connection. We are deeply grateful to our outstanding DBT RD leadership team, whose dedication and compassionate service have allowed this program to continue growing and reaching more members of our community.
Recovery Dharma is a peer led practice that applies the Buddha's Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path to the work of recovery from addiction. While our weekly Monday and Friday meetings provide an important space for practice and fellowship, this new monthly Inquiry Sangha offers an opportunity to slow down and explore the teachings in greater depth.
Each month, the group will focus on one teaching, beginning with the First Noble Truth in January and continuing through the Eighth Concept of the Eightfold Path, Wise Concentration, in December. The evening begins with five minutes of silent meditation, followed by a group reading from the Recovery Dharma book.
Participants will then spend ten minutes reflecting through writing on the month's inquiry questions before sharing together for twenty minutes. There is no cross talk and no advice giving, only a supportive space to speak honestly, listen deeply, and practice together.

No experience with Buddhism or recovery is necessary. This group has no teacher or authority figure. We are simply fellow travelers exploring these teachings together with openness, compassion, and curiosity.
This gathering is always free and everyone is welcome.
